Chatter Org Chart is a simple visualforce page designed to be a custom profile tab on the subtab apps Profile (Self) and Profile (Others). The source code is available on my github repo.
This new profile tab leverages the hierarchical relationship of the manager field on the user object to display the chatter user’s manager, the user, and their direct reports. You can click on the user profile photos to navigate the org chart.
Administrators (users with at least one of these permissions: Manage Users, Manage Internal Users, or Modify All Data) will see a blue pencil-icon in upper-right that they can click to edit basic details: name, title, and manager.

Installation
- Easily deploy this customization to your org with the GitHub Salesforce Deploy Tool authored by Andy Fawcett
- Assign users the Chatter Org Chart permission set
- Go to Setup | Create | Apps and assign the Org Chart profile tab to Chatter for both the Subtab Apps Profile (Others) and Profile (self)
Chatter Free Users
In addition to managing standard user types, administrators can now assign a manager to a Chatter Free user, and Chatter Free users can be assigned as managers of other users. No more relying on data loaders or writing your own apex code! However, at the time of this writing, Chatter Free users don’t have access to visualforce and apex and sadly won’t be able to interact with this Org Chart. Hi Doug! This appears to be a great app! I’ve installed it and I believe I have it configured correctly, however, when I go to the Org Chart subtab, I only get a message that the Time Limit Exceeded. I’ve refreshed numerous times but no luck.

Thanks for the feedback! To troubleshoot your Time Limit Exceeded error, have you checked http://trust.salesforce.com/trust/status/ to make sure your instance wasn’t experiencing any disruption? Also, the chatter user’s profile you went to view, (a) how many Permission Sets are assigned to the user and (b) how many direct reports had that user as their manager?

Good morning, I don’t think it was an issue with SF as I was running other applications without any issue. However, it seems to be working this morning, so I think we are ok. Thank you for following up!

Hi Doug!
I have deployed your application in our sandbox. I went to install in the production server (because we loved it) but I cant because I can only install in one or the other. How do I correct this issue? Also we have noticed it installs items in many places… do you have a clean “packaged” install?
Ideas and suggestions would be very helpful.

On the deployment page (https://githubsfdeploy.herokuapp.com/?owner=douglascayers&repo=sfdc-chatter-org-chart) you can pick to install to production or sandbox by choosing the appropriate radio option.
When you click the “Login to Salesforce” button, if it keeps picking up your sandbox session then first logout of your sandbox instance, login to your production instance, then try to deploy.

There’s hardly a day passing without my blessing you…
This Org chart is absolutely great. The ability to complement it with Chatter user is a tremendous plus.
What is your opinion on the effort to port it all to Lightning? I can add the tab in Lightning, but as it is not a subtab of the “People” tab, I cannot move in the org chart.
